Before applying to modeling school, it is important to decide whether or not you are interested in pursuing a career in commercial modeling or fashion modeling. The requirements for commercial and fashion models are different.Commercial print models will model for magazines, catalogs, product advertisements, store promotions and similar mediums. In the case of commercial print fashion models companies look for "real people" to model their products, clothing and services. Commercial print mediums are appealing because the viewer can identify with these models. Companies look for the average person to represent them in commercial print modeling. Female, male, children and adults are needed for commercial print modeling.

Fashion modeling is very different from commercial print modeling. Basically, you have to be tall, long-legged and skinny to even be considered in the fashion modeling tips business. The typical age range is between 14 and 21. Fashion industry standards say that fashion models should be between 5'8" and 6' tall, between sizes 0 and 4, and weigh between 108 and 125 pounds. Fashion modeling includes print and runway.
